Dr. Harsh Vardhan inaugurated Technology Business Incubation Centre in North East

Shillong, March 15: Dr Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Union Minister, Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Environment & Forests and Climate Change, Govt of India, inaugurated today the Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC) at the campus of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), a National Institute of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, at Imphal, Manipur today.

While inaugurating the TBIC, he lauded this initiative of IBSD, and said this will nurture new and small biotechnology based enterprises and help the unemployed and educated youth of North East to survive and grow their businesses through the early stages of development.

Dr Harsh Vardhan, also mentioned that this initiative of IBSD is in line with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of this region as a Natural Economic Zone, and such initiatives that are people centric will boost farmers’ income,  generate jobs for the socio-economic development of the region.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan mentioned that he visited IBSD in February 2015 and laid the foundation stone for a Technology and Skill Development Centre which is functioning well and have trained several people including women. During the last 3 years, it has made a high impact by having its physical presence in Gangtok, Sikkim ; Shillong, Meghalaya and Aizawl, Mizoram.

“I am sure a lot of people will be benefitted by this Technology Business Incubation Centre (TBIC), said Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director IBSD , who also extended a warm invitation to the entrepreneurs of North East, also spoke of the challenges of working in North East. Sahoo also said that the TBIC will provide at subsidised cost professional mentoring and advice o help new and young entrepreneurs succeed at the early stages of business development”.
