Dr Mukul inspected the Special Enrollment Drive for CMSA Scheme at Selsella Block

Shillong, July 09: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Dr Mukul M Sangma today inspected the Special Enrollment Drive for Chief Minister’s Social Assistance Scheme for Infirms, Widows  & Disabled at ICDS, Selsella.

It may be mentioned that the Special Enrollment Drive is being held from 3rd July to 16th July 2014 to encourage more beneficiaries to take benefit of the scheme.

Interacting with the participants, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said that all schemes of the government has been initiated at the block levels so that the people living in these regions can derive maximum benefit out of the endeavors of the government. He further informed that many women living in the rural areas are still not aware of the availability of the Chief Minister’s Social Scheme hence the special drives are being held at different blocks to create awareness and to bring the scheme to the doorsteps of the eligible women.

He also informed that Rs. 10 crore of additional fund has been sanctioned for the scheme. Highlighting the features of the scheme he said that not only widows but also single mothers separated from their husbands are eligible to apply. He affirmed that all barriers hindering the implementation and workability of this scheme will be dismantled. He also announced that a new scheme, Chief Minister’s Wedding Assistance Scheme will be launched whereby orphaned girls of marriageable age can apply to meet their wedding expenses.

Parliamentary Secretary, Home (P), Education, W D Sangma and Director, Social Welfare, I & PR, Mr. H M Shangpliang also accompanied the Chief Minister. Among others present were Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, Tura Pravin Bakshi, Assistant Director, Social Welfare, L M Momin and BDO, Selsella Dr D Roy. (SP News)
