Dr Mukul know he will be in trouble when NDA form the Govt at the Centre: Purno

Tura , April 07: Both National People’s Party candidate, Purno Agitok Sangma and Congress candidate, Daryl William Momin took an oppurtunity to campaign in Tura on the last day.

Sangma addressed an election meeting at Tura bazaar, accompanied by Independent MLA John Leslee K Sangma, and his legislator son, James K Sangma.

The NPP President P A  Sangma sent a message to the  chief minister Mukul Sangma to be alert that soon after the election, he would expose all his wrong-doings.

He further hit out at Mukul and said, “The NDA will definitely come to power and Modi will be the PM. Being a part of the alliance, Mukul knows that he will be in trouble when it happens. Why do you think he is campaigning so hard in the coming elections?”

“I have raised the demand for Garoland and I am sure my voice will be heard.

Till now the centre is not aware of the demand for Garoland. I will definitely take the demand to the centre and to that end will ask all the outfits to come out and join us. We will fight for Garoland as a team”, said Sangma to an applause from the crowd gathered.

The meeting, which began at 2 pm today concluded at 4:45 pm, which is just before the cut off time of 5 pm for campaigning.

South Tura MLA, Leslee accused the Congress of belittling the intellect of the people of Garo hills in choosing someone who was an unknown quantity, when the need of the hour was someone with experience to handle the deteriorating law and order situation.

Sitting Tura MP, Agatha Sangma hit out at Mukul Sangma led Congress government.

“They have been saying that I have been crying since I sacrificed my seat to PA Sangma. Does it look like I have been crying? I gave up my dream as it requires someone with experience to bring peace and stability within the region. If there is anyone who can ensure peace within the region, it is PA Sangma”, said Agatha.

“When I gave a party at my residence for Christmas, none from the bazaar came due to the prevailing security situation. As I have stated earlier as well, Mukul Sangma is the Chairman of militants and if the CM himself is the chief, how can we expect peace within the region”, said Agatha.

Congress candidate Daryl William Momin spend the day on a bike and car rally, which began at 11 am and continued for several hours. The rallists travelled upto Asanang, about 18 km from here and later passed through Tura town and converged at about 3 pm at MP Stadium in Dakopgre.

Similar rally were held in Williamnagar, East Garo Hills. The rally was led by social welfare minister, Deborah C Marak.(SP News)
