Shillong, May 20: Flow of cattle towards Bangladesh continues despite seizure of these animals in huge quantity by BSF troops. Elements involved in the smuggling of cattle have managed to transport large number of cattle towards international border also, having purchased them from cattle haats. But their efforts are being thwarted regularly at the zeroline by the alert BSF jawans. Once again, the troops of BSF deployed at BOP Lyngkhat in East Khasi Hills Distt seized 25 Nos of cattle from the bordering area.

Having received a tip- off from its sources, the BSF troops rushed towards the suspected area. Before the smugglers could succeed in their nefarious activity, brave jawans cordoned off the area and recovered a considerable number of cattle after a thorough search. The thickly vegetated and unfenced areas of the border are vulnerable patches which have frequently been used for cattle smuggling by these smuggler.

It is worth while to mentioning here that the BSF has been continuously effecting seizures in the particular area of Lyngkhat. There have been seizure of cattle at 15 instances in the same area in which 178 cattle seized during the current year.

After continuous anti -smuggling drive and putting extra vigil, along the border to prevent and curb, the nefarious design of Anti National Elements, the BSF has been achieving a great success in countering the cattle smuggling and apprehension of smugglers. BSF men planning actions in this regard at the hinterland to stop flow of these animals towards zeroline. BSF has seized 773 cattle along Meghalaya border in 106 incidents till date in current year.
