Shillong, August 12: The first modelling institute and modelling agency in the state, Glam Snap is all set to organised the Mr. and Miss Glam Snap 2016 on 20 August from 4PM onwards, at the U Soso Tham Auditorium.
The auditions for the beauty pageant was held last month at Youth Hostel, Shillong in which around 60 candidates took part in the auditions out of which only 7 male and 7 female candidates were selected for the Grand Finale scheduled to be held on August 20.
Irmala Kane Sutterwala who has rub shoulders with the biggest names in tinsel town, who is also a makeover consultant who works closely with Femina Miss India and Gladrags will also be part of the beauty pageant in grooming and image makeover for the young boys and girls enrolled in the pageant.
Addressing newsmen here on Friday, Glam Snap team partner, Sanchia Khongwir said, “We are not giving the winners of the pageant any prize money however we are giving them a platform to compete and the top five of the pageant stand a chance to compete in the Miss India Elite and Mr. India Elite.”
“We have taken this initiative since we have seen that there are plenty of youths both male and female who have this talent to excel in the fashion world and who aspire to work in the fashion industry and in light of this we are trying to give them a platform to meet their dreams,” she said.
She informed that the tickets for the beauty pageant, is very limited since it’s an entirely sponsored event. The tickets are priced at Rs. 200 and 300.
Meanwhile, Sutterwala said, “If we look through the years there has not been any contestant in the Miss India beauty pageant from the North East and this is the main reason I have come here to groom them.”
According to her, the reason for this is due to the lack of grooming the youths engaged in beauty pageant have received.
“Most of the girls here (North East) are not tall and most of the girls don’t have any exposure to Mumbai and this might be one reason why girls from the NE have not done well in this field,” she said.
