Shillong, February 02: In a boost to Meghalaya BJP, Melam Rangad from Laban joined the party and was welcomed into the family by Chief Spokesperson Shri Mariahom Kharkrang.
Senior party member and retired IFS officer Shri Gregory Shullai was also present on the occasion. A Masters in Tourism, Shri Rangad brings a new dose of youthful enthusiasm to state BJP’s ever swelling numbers.
A philanthropist at heart, Shri Melam Rangad is the secretary of Thranghok Rangad Academic Society which supports underprivileged students and his contribution to the betterment of society is well known.
Shri Mariahom Kharkrang commented, “Shri Melam Rangad is grandnephew of Thrangbok Rangad, whose memory we, at BJP Meghalaya, hold dear in our hearts. I had a long association with bah Thrangbok Rangad and it was a matter of personal delight as I welcomed Melam into the BJP fold.”
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Melam Rangad said, “My granduncle was an inspiration for all of us and it gives me great pride to walk in his footsteps. For me it is a sort of homecoming and I am committed to helping BJP Meghalaya touch greater heights.”
When asked why he chose BJP over others, Shri Rangad replied, “Who isn’t motivated by the Prime Minister’s message of uplifting society? Who won’t be inspired by the various central schemes of the BJP led Govt., aimed at uplifting the less fortunate amongst us? BJP provides me with the perfect platform to serve my society, state and nation.”
