Shillong, February 25: NEIGRIHMS in collaboration withZublee Foundation, and  North Eastern Development Finance Corporation (NEDFi), successfully organized a two-day workshop on Deceased Organ Donation from 23rd to 24thFebruary, 2024 to raise awareness and knowledge about Deceased Organ Donation and Transplantation among the medical fraternity, students, and staff of NEIGRIHMS.

The workshop witnessed the participation of 200 participants from various departments. Participants actively engaged throughout the program, demonstrating remarkable enthusiasm and expressing gratitude for the valuable insights gained.

The success of the program is attributed to the collaborative efforts of Prof. RanendraHajong, Department of General Surgery, NEIGRIHMS and Nodal Officer, SOTTO Meghalaya and Ms. Priyanka Borah, CEO of Zublee Foundation, and their respective teams.

Prof. (Dr) C.Daniala,Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS, stated that “NEIGRIHMS is committed to making organ donation and transplantation a reality for those in need. We believe this initiative holds immense potential to save lives in the future”.

Prof. Nalin Mehta, Director, NEIGRIHMS, stated that this workshop provided a valuable platform for healthcare professionals, students, and staff to gain crucial knowledge and address any existing concerns regarding deceased organ donation.

He believe this initiative will contribute significantly towards increasing awareness and encouraging responsible conversations about organ donation within our community.

Especially in Meghalaya, where awareness regarding organ donation is low, such workshops are crucial to raise awareness, dispel myths and misconceptions, and encourage more people to consider this life-saving gift.
