Shillong, January 25: The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District Mr CP Gotmare said that inauguration of completed project by official does not attract the model code of conduct.
The Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District in his reply to the question asked by SP News Agency on the Poultry Seed Project (PSP) that was inaugurated by the Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC) Mr Ram Muivah at ICAR, 0n the 25th January 2018 as press statement issued from the ICAR.
The Deputy Commissioner said that ICAR is a research center; it is an institution, so this does not fall under the model code of conduct. “I as the Deputy Commissioner I can inaugurate, if the road or bridge is completed” he said.
But political parties, or any unofficial person inaugurate any project that might attract voters are not allowed and the model code of conduct applies. The Inauguration of the NEC Secretary on the PSP project dose not attract the model code of conduct.
