Maligaon, June 11: The Indian Railways has run more than 4347 Shramik Special trains, carrying over 60 lakh passengers. Nearly 60 percent of trains originated from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Punjab and mainly moved towards various districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Most of the destinations in Uttar Pradesh are around Lucknow – Gorakhpur sector and in Bihar around Patna, Katihar. More than 514 (five hundred fourteen) Shramik Special trains already reached NFR areas including Bihar, West Bengal and NE states.
More than 86 Shramik Special trains arrived various NE States with nearly 129000 stranded people from states including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Assam under NFR.
In NFR areas under Katihar division of Bihar about 337 Shramik Special trains arrived at stations like Katihar, Purnea, Arraria, Kishanganj. More than 90 Shramik Special trains also reached various stations in West Bengal under NFR areas like New Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar, New Jalpaiguri, Aluabari with stranded people of states like West Bengal and Sikkim.
These Shramik Special Trains mainly came from areas like Kozhikkode (Calicut), Kota, Jaipur, Nandurbar, Hisar, Surat, Sirhind Jn, Vadodara, Udaipur, Bharuch, Ghatkesar, Ludhiana, Ambala, Aligarh, Rohtak, Kalyan, Bibinagar Jn, Bhiwani, Jalandhar, Meerut, Dehradun, Rampur, Habibganj, Rayanapadu (Vijaywada), Karaikal, Bengaluru, Karamnasa, Mangalore, Central, Moradabad, Namburu, Pettaivaytalai and various stations in Mumbai, Chennai etc.
All the passengers arriving by the Shramik special trains were received by respective civil administration of the states at Railway station after following all necessary Covid-19 protocols.
All passengers were guided by RPF and GRP personal in queues after de-boarding from the train maintaining social distancing. Necessary COVID – 19 protocols were maintained and entry of unauthorized persons was prevented.
Moreover, 27 Shramik Special trains have also originated from various states under the jurisdiction of N. F. Railway with stranded people from these states to their native places to states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
Indian Railways has also assured that it will provide additional Shramik Special trains for any requirement given in future also. It will also meet any additional demand that may arise over and above the projections given, at a short notice.
The Chairman Railway Board already wrote letters to the States on the subject and emphasised that “Indian Railways will provide the desired number of Shramik Special trains immediately within 24 hours of the request”.
In addition to Shramik specials, Railways are running 15 pairs of special Rajdhani type trains connecting New Delhi and 200 more timetabled special trains connecting various other cities of the country to move people who need to travel for essential reasons.
