Shillong, May 03: Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan today lauded the services rendered by the teachers, fathers and sisters of the Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre for the wellbeing of the children with disabilities. Governor lauded the centre while inaugurating an accessible resource centre cum computer lab in Umniuh-Khwan, Ri-Bhoi District, for empowering children with disabilities to access digital learning and enhance their computer skills with digital assistive technology.
The Governor called upon CBM and Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre to work together towards making the center one of the best resources for children with disabilities in the North East region. Speaking on the occasion the governor quoted some famous personalities who are affected with disability but achieved in their respective filed such as the famous writer John Milton, artist Sudha Chandran and Arunima the female amputee who climb mount everest.
CBM India Trust has supported the setting up of the computer lab with its partner Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre. CBM Programme officers Kumar Ratan , Darwin Moses and Ferrando Speech and Hearing Centre Sisters Maya and Bindu besides teachers and students were also present on the occasion. It may be mentioned that the centre presently has 190 students. Cultural programmes were conducted during the programme.
