Shillong, January 13: The General Executive Council of the Khasi Student Union (KSU) has taken the decision that the state government of Meghalaya should implement the comprehensive mechanism with this year 2017 to tackle influx coming into the state.
Speaking to media person after the GEC, the president of the KSU Mr Daniel Khyriem said that if the government fail to implement the comprehensive mechanism the organization will once again come to the street to demand the Inner Line Permit.
As agreed between the KSU with others organization and the state government, there will be forty one entry and exit point in the whole state, of which eighteen will be in the khasi region and 23 in the Garo region and they will be implemented in three phases.
On the Meghalaya safety and security Act, the KSU demand from the state government that the government should constituted the District task force committee in all the district with immediate effect in all the District in the state.
On Uranium issued the KSU has reaffirm that they will opposed any Uranium mining in the state or any exploratory of Uranium as tender call by the AMD. The KSU has taken a firm stand that they will oppose any form when it comes to Uranium.
In the meeting , the KSU will put pressure on the KHADC to implement the Rs. 20 cores for the repairing of the road from Nongstoin to Phlangdiloin, and the health department should commission the PHC at Wahkaji.
On the railway line to the Khasi region, the KSU will not allowed to enter, until and unless the state government has taken strict measure to combat influx, any form of railway line at this stage the KSU will opposed it.
The GEC of the KSU today has also appointed Mr Dany Khyriem to be the Chairman of the Election Committee and Mr Samuel B Jyrwa as the Secretary to conduct the election to elect the new office bearer for the year 2017-2020, the election will be held on the 11th February 2017 at Dinam Hall Shillong.
