NEDA,an umbrella of political organisation of all non-congress parties of the NE State

Guwahati, July  13: BJP President Amit Shah, today attended the first official conclave of the NEDA, North  East Democratic Alliance, in Guwahati, and to give the platform a better take-off, various Non congress political parties from all the North Eastern states including Sikkim assimilated here. The concept of NEDA,an umbrella political organisation of all non-

congress parties, came into existence this year during the Assam assembly election campaign period with the objective to fight the Congress party unitedly in the North Eastern states,Later NEDA was officially formed on May 24, the day Assam’s first BJP-led
government was sworn in.

The North East though do not have major representation in the Lok Sabha, for political parties winning elections or a single seat gain can be matter of pride, specially for parties like the BJP.The congress had always been the heavy weight in most of the North
Eastern states after independence, but things have started changing gradually, and the concept of NEDA came in the right time.

On a good positive note, the NEDA is all about a platform to raise collective voice on behalf of the North East for getting their dews for better development of this much backward and neglected region. For the BJP,this is another step towards carrying forward Modi,s slogun ” Congress Mukt Bharat”. while the unprecedented victory of the BJP alliance in Assam which has not only shocked the country, but has given hopes for the BJP to push deep in the region as a pan India political party with acceptance from all section of the society . BJP,Better deemed as a pure Hindi belt party has now made its mark in the North East, and even at the backdrop of Supreme court’s verdict on Arunachal Pradesh, that came as a set back for the party, today’s meeting of the NEDA has much to cheer.

The major participation in the first NEDA convention today saw political heavy weights from chief ministers of Assam, , Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland,Sikkim, Sarbananda Sonowal, Kalikho Pul,T R Zeliang, and Pawan Kumar Chamling respectively, including former Mizoram Chief minister Zoram Thanga of the National Front (MNF) and former Meghalaya
Chief Minsiter Donkupar Roy of the of the UDP coming under one umbrella.

Apart from this, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF).People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA) in Arunachal Pradesh,Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) in Sikkim ,Naga People’s Front (NPF) in Nagaland, National People’s Party (NPP) and United Democratic Party (UDP) in Meghalaya are other constituents of NEDA. NPF, PPA and SDF are in power in Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and in Sikkim.

Time will say how the Congress will  counter the NEDA.” It is not the time to react, lets see what will be in their agenda, but Congress has nothing to be worried about NEDA” Said Apurba Bhattacharjee, spokesperson of Congress.” It is the big brother BJP who will dictate the NEDA after all and if the BJP loses power the NEDA will fail, adding to it he that the verdict of the Supreme court only exposes the BJP ” he added.
