Shillong, February 17:y: North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Limited (NERAMAC) in association with North Eastern Council (NEC) organized a National Seminar on “Food Processing Investors’ Meet” today at Hotel Pinewood, Shillong (Meghalaya).
The National Seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. C. H. Kharshing, IA & AS, Planning Advisor, North Eastern Council (NEC). Mr. D. Khound, Economic Advisor, North Eastern Council (NEC), Govt. of India, was the guest of honour.
Mr. P. L. Kaul, Past President, All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA), was the Special Guest on this occasion. He highlighted the opportunities in the field of food processing.
In his key note address to the dignitaries, Pankaj Kumar Prasad, Managing Director, NERAMAC said, “NERAMAC endeavors and works tirelessly across the region. We believe positive changes are on the horizon and Food Processing industry holds the potential for the farmers of this region. NERAMAC is helping young entrepreneurs in marketing their produce. The response we have received is overwhelming”.
S. Bhattacharjee, Executive Director, NERAMAC, in his welcome address said that, “Food Processing Investors Meet will bring new ideas and perspective to the local entrepreneurs and farmers. We intend to connect investors, farmers and entrepreneurs”
The 1st and 2nd technical sessions on “Possibilities of Investment” were chaired and conducted by Mr. B. K. Sohliya, OSD, Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship and Prof. Natalie West Kharkongor, IIM Shillong respectively. Whereas the presentations were given by Mr. D. V. Malhan, Executive Secretary AIFPA, Mr. Bidhan Das, Deputy Director, IIP-Kolkata, Mr. Ronn Pakrashi, North East Mega Food Park and other experts coming from across the country to share their rich experience.
Prof. Natalie West Kharkongor, IIM Shillong, said that, “A lot of positive work is being done in this field which needs to be covered by the media, so it inspires many others. People of Meghalaya have many opportunities which they should tap”.
The initiative of organizing the National Meet of the Food Processors by NERAMAC has been supported by the North Eastern Council respectively.
