Shillong, June 04: Ri Bhoi District is completed its 25 years 1992-2017 of glorious existence. To commemorate this anniversary, the Ri Bhoi District Silver Jubilee Organising Committee has planned a week-long Celebration Programme commencing from 5th June to 9th June.
The committee appeals to the people of Ri Bhoi and Meghalaya in general to join hands with the celebration. During the week-long celebration, the committee has planned a variant of events to celebrate the 25th Ri Bhoi Foundation Day at NSCA stadium, Pahamsyiem.
The celebration will be in a befitting manner and will showcase the rich cultural diversity of the Bhoi people including with many exciting events for public and the venue will also provide an idyllic setting for people to enjoy traditional food, traditional drinks, traditional dances, games and etc.
On the inaugural function, the celebration will also release a souvenir with a brief note on Society and Culture – In a nutshell, the Bhois’ Land Tenure System, folklore of Ri Bhoi, etc.The organising committee of 25th celebration invite one and all to join our celebrations and guidance to make the celebration a grand success.
The organising committee would like to thank the various organisation for the support to cooperate with the organiser for the celebration including the Khasi Students union who had withdrew their statement to boycott the 25th Ri Bhoi foundation day.
In the opening function of the anniversary programme, the Chief Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya Dr. D.D Lapang will grace as a Chief Guest and Chief Minister Dr. Mukul M. Sangma as a Chief Guest in the closing function.
