RBI has given instruction that Rs.500 denominations should be used only in ATMs

Shillong, January 04: RBI has sent fresh remittance to Jowai. Various denominations 50 Rs 1 box = 50 lakh, 100 Rs half box = 50 lakh , 500 Rs 2 boxes = 10 crore, 2000 Rs 1 box = 20 crore and the total 31 crore.

The RBI has given instruction that Rs.500 denominations should be used only in ATMs and not for payment over the counter in bank branches.

So from today on wards you will be able to withdraw both Rs 2000 and Rs 500 notes from various ATMs in the district subjected to daily withdrawal limit of Rs 4500 and weekly withdrawal limit of Rs 24000.

However only one ATM or debit card per customer will be allowed to withdraw at one time. This is to prevent one person from using 5-6 different cards and cornering all 500 notes. People are requested to be vigilant in the ATM queues.
