Ampati, April 30: As part of a series of awareness programmes being conducted by the District Police and District Administration in South West Garo Hills to familiarize the people on road safety and traffic rules, an awareness meeting was held at Monabari police station on Saturday.
Such awareness programme is being necessitated due to increased road accidents with rising number of vehicles in the rural areas, where most of the people are unaware about traffic rules.The meeting was attended by nokmas and gaonburas, besides the drivers and members of auto association and pick-up association of the area.
During the meeting, Police and District Transport officials explained to the gathering about road safety measures and various provisions under Motor Vehicles Act and also responded to the queries raised by the participants.
