Shillong ugust 2: The Shillong Lajong FC Youngsters displayed a strong performance to register their second consecutive win in the Independence Day Celebration Invitation Football Tournament. The Reds won 4-1 against Ramhlun North FC today at the AR Ground in Aizawl.
For this game, Lajong FC Head Coach Thangboi Singto started with Neithovilie Chalieu (GK), Nim Dorjee, Sandeep Singh, Pritam Kumar, Joe Zoherliana, Joseph Lalfakzuala, Hardy Nongbri, Alen Deory, Bipin Singh, Samuel Lalmuanpuia and Milan Basumatary.
The first goal of the match was scored by Bipin Singh. It was in the 8th minute when youngster Bipin netted the ball after being fed by his team mate Samuel Lalmuanpuia.
Lajong youngsters enjoyed majority of the ball possession and had several opportunities in front goal. They kept on attacking their opponents half and were finally rewarded for their persistence with another goal and this time it was Alen Deory. He scored a powerful long ranger in the 43rd minute and this crushed the hopes of Ramhlun FC to come back into the game.
The young Reds seemed unstoppable and were brimming with immense confidence. They were also very solid at the back and denied goal scoring chances to their opponents.
Samuel Lalmuanpuia also joined his mates in the goal scoring party. He scored from long range in the 53rd minute of the match and took the lead to 3-0.
As the game wore on, captain of today’s game, Nim Dorjee Tamang, headed home from a corner kick in the 75th minute and the boys were overjoyed as the score line was 4-0 in favour of the Reds.
Ramhlun North FC players knew the score line would be tough to overcome as the game was approaching to its final five minutes, but nevertheless, they started to make some good moves upfront. It was only in the 85th minute that they managed to break the resolute Lajong defence when Malsoumzuala netted a fine shot. Shillong Lajong FC will play their next group match against Zo United FC on 6th August at 12PM, AR Ground in Aizawl.
