Shillong, November 17: Shillong Lajong FC defeated Sawmer SC today by 2-1 today in the quarterfinals of the Meghalaya Invitation Football Tournament in SSA ground Polo.
Sawmer took the lead in the 37th minute through a free kick. The Underdogs played well and troubled Lajong who were favorites to win the match.
Lajong were unlucky as their strikers hit the crossbar couple of times and did not manage to equalize in the first half.
However Lajong displayed a much better second half. They leveled the score line when Redeem Tlang with his left footer placed the ball in the bottom corner of the net in the 57th minute.
Redeem Tlang made it 2-1 for Lajong when he headed the ball into the net in the 71st minute of the match. At the end of a thrilling and entertaining encounter, Shillong Lajong won today’s game by 2-1.
