Shillong, September 0 7: Based on complaints from different students of the state the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJP youth wing) Meghalaya on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the General Manager, Telecom District, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Meghalaya SSA, Shillong on the abysmal internet speed, Wimax and Quality GSM coverage.
The BJYM through the memorandum apprise the general manager on the present problems being faced by the general public and youths in matters relating to the internet both wired and wireless Broadband services and also the GSM coverage in Meghalaya.
The BJYM leader Egenstar Kurkalang in a press communiqué informed that in a meeting with the general manager has assured that all the problems will be completely solved within the month of December 2016-January 2017.
“As per our conversation with the GS she has assured us that by January 2017, the department will provide better services. As of now work is in progress and the department will install more tower in order to solve call drop and in providing better connection in rural areas,” he said.
Stating the quality wimax, wired broadband and Cellular GSM, he said, “The present conditions of all the above services have put the young subscribers and users of BSNL service, especially the students and the job-seekers while downloading and uploading portals and submission of data in applying scholarships, jobs and other services and government benefits. Many times, a student or young job seekers have to spend hours and days to complete their applications- thus belying their expectation of a fast and quality digital service in the present generation as available in other states of the country.”
He observed that in many any areas in the state there are still waiting for BSNL services even after more than a decade and half of its establishment as an inherent and obligatory Central PSU.
In view of the above service lacunae the BJYN request the concern authority re-look into the present provision of the different BSNL services in the state for the benefit of young citizens of the state.
