The 26th Death Anniversary of Capt. W. A. Sangma observed at Baghmara

Shillong, October 25:The 26th Death Anniversary of Capt. W. A. Sangma, the first Chief Minister of Meghalaya was observed today at a park situated on the bank of mighty Simsang river and named after him in a befitting manner.

Besides soulful hymns and prayers, wreaths and floral tributes were offered on the bust erected in his memory by the Chief Guest Mr. Samuel M. Sangma, local MLA and Deputy Commissioner, Mrs. S. N. Marak and other officials from the district administration.

In his brief address, Mr.Sangma recalled the various contributions made by Capt. Sangma in his capacity as Chief Minister for the overall development of the State and for his home constituency of Baghmara in particular. Mr. Samuel Sangma also informed that he would be extending financial help from his MLA scheme from next year to observe the death anniversary of the great leader in more meaningful and colourful manner.
