Shillong, August 17: The A∙chik Youth Council, ha written to the Executive Member incharge Land and Revenue, etc of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Tura demanding Cancellations of appointment of Ichakuri Gaonbura Nokma.
The AYC in the letter draw the attention and protection of traditional law and custom of the land. They have learnt from various sources and Nokma of Thakuranbari A∙king Land that Ichakuri (Ichaguri) falls under the jurisdiction of the A∙king Land which belongs to Man∙kin-Simsang (a∙king jikse) clan or mahari. As per customs and practices.
The AYC said that Gaonbura cannot be appointed under the aegis of A∙king Land, thus, appointment of Mr Ziadul Islam, as an Interim Gaonbura without the consent of a∙king Nokma is not according to law and practices of A∙chik culture.
The AYC said as as per their telephonic communication with Nokma of Thakuranbari, they also filed a complaint against said appointment on 10th of August, 2020 with all supporting documents and no action is initiated by the authority till date.
The AYC also support the complaint of nokma and his team against the above mentioned appointment and demand for immediate cancelation of ordered in appointment of Gaonbura for Ichakuri (Ichaguri) village and locality within three days or else the A∙chik Youth Council will move to the court in this matter, said Mr. Silning D.
