Shillong, June 22: The Achick Youth Welfare Organization today submitted a stenn memorandum to the state Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma and their first demand is to have a separate Garo State which has taken many political movement and demonstration on the issue, the demand for separate Garo land is still fresh in their mind.
The organization has put sixteen demand from the chief minister , apart from the demand for a separate Garo state, the organsation has demanded from the Chief minister that, Tura should be made a winter capital for the state of Meghalaya, that the winter session of the Meghalaya legislative Assembly should be held in Tura.
They have also mention in their memorandum that the government should released the fund mean for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council , as the organization felt that the delay in releasing the fund to the council has made the staff of the Council to work without pay for almost ten month, they said that the government should have consideration for them.
There are many demands that they have mention in the memorandum, including Baljek Airport to be made operational as assure by the former president of the country Pratibha patel.
On the Education part, the AYWO said that let the NEHU Tura compus be made full-fledged university, the government should also open up others stream like commerce, science, information technology and many others that relevant in the education.
Since the Chief Minister himself has laid the Foundation of the Government Medical College the organization wants that the government should expedite the project at the earliest and also the Engineering college.
They have also mention about bad road condition in Garo Hills they have demanded that road from Tura to Dalu under NH-51, Baghmara To Ranikor , road from Agia, Mendipathar, Phulbari Tura, Garobada Selsella, Rajabala Road should be repair.
The Government should developed Tourism sport in garo Hills, the Ganol hydel project should made functional at the earliest, and the newly announced Civil Sub Division and C&RD block should made functional.
