Shillong, February 17: The ministry Human Recourses Developemtn Project Approval Board (PAB) 2013-14 sanctioned to impart training for 15822 in service untrained teachers for meghalaya.this a two year course , Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
Regarding this Government of Meghalaya tied up with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to train for 7822 in 2013-14 while NIOS enrolled only 4385 teachers and a sum amount @ 526.2 lakhs sanctioned and released to NIOS for training of 4385 teachers in 2013-14 batch( first batch).
For second batch of 3437 teachers NIOS enrolled in 2015 and a sum amount @ 206.22 lakhs sanctioned and released in 2015-16.
A sum amount @ 206.22 sanctioned and released in 2016-17 to start the 2nd year course for the 3427 teachers of 2nd batch but surprisingly till today the class of 2nd year not yet started,
A sum amount @480.00 lakhs sanctioned and released PAB 2016-17 to give training to 8000 untrained teachers which the State Government claimed that all the 8000 teachers were registered for 1st year with NIOS but in reality till date enrollment form not yet issued by NIOS.
But it was seen that the NIOS could not conduct and manage the training in a proper way which create controversies between the teachers and NIOS the moment the declaration of result which the authority could not solve this problem till today and it forced the teachers to hold an agitation movement against this.
But the government remaining silent and dormant without any initiative to solve teachers grievances despite several request and approach made by them before the concern authority and to the government respectively.
The question arises here is, why the government is not willing to intervene this issue with the NIOS despite a huge amount of money were spent and invested by the government.because as per PAB report the total amount sanctioned and released to Meghalaya is 14,18,64,000 (1418.64 lakhs), further , 4 years had completed since the date PAB given its approval but till date from 15822 teachers sanctioned for the training , none of them received the Certificate of the training due to faults created by NIOS.
Why the government keep the fate of teachers at stake and also the government plays with the life of teachers and student respectively by wasting public money.this also show that the government neglect the dignity of teachers and the student also not responsible to promote education in the state thus BJYM Meghalaya in a Meeting held on 16 febraury 2017 in part office Shillong condemned the irresponsibility on the part of the state government.
