Shillong, Nov 14: Once again showing it’s alertness on the international border , the BSF troops deployed at Jatrakona, South Garo Hills district, apprehended one Indian drug Smuggler with one driver of Three Wheeler vehicle with 994 Nos Yaba tablets worth more than Rs. 3.5 Lacs.
The special Ambush party observed a suspected Three Wheeler bearing No. ML-08 F-7148 coming from Baghmara side and going towards Dalu. Ambush party stopped the Auto and apprehended 02 person namely Ratan Saha 30 years of Chaipani under Babupara police station of West Garo Hills District Meghalaya.
On search, party recovered 994 Nos Yaba tablets worth more than Rs. 3.5 Lacs, 01 No Mobile, and Indian currency Rs. 14,520/- from their possession. On questioning Ratan Saha revealed that seized tablets were to be handed over to Litan 35 Years of Palpara village under Dalu Police Station and inform that he had collected this consignment from one Muktar Ali at Baghmara.
It is mentioned that the Yaba Tablet, which is a mostly consumed drug by youth of Bangladesh. These red-coloured pills are bought in bulk at Rs. 350 per pill in the border areas. After transferring through several hands, it is sold to end-users in Bangladesh Taka 800 to 900 per pill.
The demand for this type of tablet has spiked in part due to the addiction of users in Bangladesh. Further questioning of apprehended persons may help to expose other members of the syndicate both side of the border.Apprehended persons and seized items handed over to the concern department for further legal action.
