The BSF seized 23 cattle’s in the Indo Bangla border in Garo Hills

Shillong, June 24: The troops of BSF BOP Balughat deployed South West Garo Hills Distt , on a tip off seized 23 Nos of cattle from the bordering area. The special Ambush party of BSF laid a trap while some smugglers alongwith cattle were proceeding towards Bangladesh for smuggling through a thickly vegetated area. A thorough cordon and search operation was carried out. A huge number of cattle that is 23 number was seized from the Indo-Bangladesh border. However the cattle carriers and smugglers managed to flee taking advantage of darkness and thick foliage.

The carriers and smugglers of cattle  have not only indulged in cattle smuggling, they often sneak into Indian territory for cattle lifting from the Indian villages and causing serious harm to the dwellers of Indian villagers during such acts. There has been significant increase in smuggling of cattle in the bordering areas and in all the cases involvement of Bangladeshi miscreants has been revealed alongwith their local associates. It is surprising that the persons involved in this illegal activity are called cattle traders in Bangladesh. Repeatedly miscreants and smugglers illegally enter into Indian territory through unfenced gaps and involve in smuggling of cattle after theft or purchase.

Special operations have been continuously being conducted by the BSF troops to restrain and stop such types of activities. The border population also being sensitised against such crimes and defaulters. BSF has also increased the frequency of its surveillance on international border.
