Shillong,June 8: The BSF troops deployed at Purnanagar, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya in an operation along with Meghalaya police apprehended one smuggler namely Madhu Koch of Purnanagar, East Kashi Hills District of Meghalaya along with huge quantity of Biri that is more than 7840 packets.
This Biri entirely hidden in leaves of plants the consignment was meant for smuggling and was to be handed over to associates in Bangladesh. BSF troops after getting a tip off, cordoned the area and seized huge quantity from his possession before apprehending him. BSF has strengthened security on the international and has been conducting special operations on the Border for preventing of illegal movement and to curb of smuggling.
The demand of Biri is a very high among Bangladeshis is comparison to India. Smugglers try to smuggle out Biri to Bangladesh for getting rich dividends. BSF now in coordination with BGB keeping an eye over of the psychotropic substances being smuggled out to Bangladesh.
