Shillong,May 10: The troops of BSF BOP Lyngkhat and Tuka deployed in East Khasi Hills Distt, on a tip off, once again seized 22 nos of cattle from the bordering area. The special Ambush party of BSF laid a trap while some smugglers along with cattle were proceeding towards Bangladesh for smuggling through a thickly vegetated area. The BSF party blocked the suspected area. A thorough search was carried out. A huge number of cattle i.e. 22 Nos (worth 3.6 Lacs) seized from the Indo-Bangladesh border. However the cattle carriers/smugglers managed to flee taking advantage of darkness and thick foliage.
2. It is worth mentioning that the BSF has been continuously effecting seizures in the particular area of Lyngkhat and Tuka. There have been seizure of cattle at 21 instances in the same area in which 190 cattle seized during the current year in this area.
3. After continuous anti -smuggling drive and putting extra vigilance at the border to prevent and curb illegal acts, the BSF has been achieving great success in countering the cattle smuggling. BSF planning more actions in this regard at the hinterland to stop flow of these animals towards zeroline.
