The BSF seizes cattle laden vehicle at the IB at Umsyiem in EKH District

Shillong, June 04: The courageous troops of Border Security Force, now a days heavily engaged in stopping smuggling of bovine animals besides guarding the frontier even if the smugglers attempts attacked to the BSF troops. The troops of Border Security Force once again showing alertness and extra vigil on International Border, foiled the attempt of notorious smugglers and seized 07 Nos cattle laden vehicle on International Border. The vigilant BSF troops deployed at Umsyiem in East Khasi Hills Distt of Meghalaya noticed a suspected pickup vehicle laden with cattle was stopped near the international border. They immediately rushed towards the spot to verify the activity. The persons who were attempting to unload the cattle on seeing BSF troops ran away. The BSF troops searched the vehicle and recovered 7 cattle worth Rs. 1 lac. These cattle were being smuggled from unfenced area of Umsyiem. The BSF troops deployed at Nayabazar, East Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya launched Spl. operation and seized 10 nos cattle being smuggled to Bangladesh taking advantage of darkness through unfenced gaps. The incidents of cattle smuggling have been on the rise across the International Border with Bangladesh with a vigilant troops of BSF making quite a few breakthrough, though the  meance has continued. With Eid just around the corner, smuggling incidents are expected to go up further. In addition the BSF troops seized 317 Cattle, worth more than 40 lacs, while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh on the International Border along Meghalaya during last week. After continuous anti -smuggling drive and putting extra vigil on the border to prevent and curb, the BSF has been achieving a great success in countering the cattle smuggling and apprehension of smugglers.
