The BSF troops deployed at Barsora,SWKD nabbed one Bangladeshi on International Border

Shillong, January 16: The BSF troops deployed at Barsora, West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya nabbed one Bangladeshi on International Border while he was exfiltrating from India to Bangladesh. He has been identified as Tajul Islam (20yrs), S/o Nurjul Islam, resident of Vill- Godila, PS-Tahirpur, Distt-Sunamganj, Bangladesh. The BSF Party seized 02 Nos Mobile, 03 Nos Mobile charger, 02 Nos Mobile head phone, 02 Nos wrist watch, one Hand bag and Indian currency Rs. 3,007/-.

In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Kasinda, East Khasi Hills district (Meghalaya), saw some suspicious movement of a person with bag infiltrating into Indian territory from Bangladesh. When BSF party on duty challenged him to stop he fled towards Bangladesh leaving behind a bag. On searching, 01 Tokay Gecko species of lizard worth approx Rs. 30 lakh was recovered from the bag. It is mentioned that in same area on 28th Oct’ 2016 the BSF troops was seized also one 01 Tokay Gecko species of lizard.

Tokay Geckos are in great demand in some South East Asian countries for their purported medicinal values which has led to an increase in illegal trade of the species. A mature gecko can easily fetch huge money lakh. Owing to their small size, they can easily be smuggled in large numbers by poachers who have found an abundant populace of the lizard species in the forests. Though it a rear species. Apprehended persons and seized items handed over to police station Barengapara for further legal action.
