The BSF troops seized 14 Nos Cattle, 10 Kg Ganja from Kalaichar SG Hills

Shillong, November 06: The BSF troops seized 14 Nos Cattle and 10 Kg Ganja from the bordering areas of Kalaichar in South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India.  The BSF troops saw some suspicious movement of appx 05 miscreants alongwith cattle, they immediately rushed towards the suspected area before the smugglers could succeed in their nefarious activity, but the smugglers ran away towards Kalaichar village taking advantage of darkness.

The BSF searched the area and recovered a considerable numbers of cattle and Ganja. Increase in cattle smuggling has resulted in the reciprocal alertness on the part of the sentinels of border also. The involvement of local criminals with Bangladeshi smugglers has always been a great cause of concern for the border guards. Smugglers have been using various tactics to smuggle cattle to Bangladesh.

In another incident the troops of BSF deployed at Bghmara, South Garo Hills distt of Meghalaya seized 19 tons of Coal and appx 500 Nos Bamboo while being smuggled into Bangladesh from India through Simsang river. The rivers flowing towards Bangladesh are used for smuggling of such things. The troops of Border Security Force have been putting their valiant efforts to seize these huge consignments of coal and bamboos. Coal is being smuggled to Bangladesh concealed in bags with Bamboo rafts through over flooded river.  The smugglers have been attempting to exploit other difficult roots to smuggle coal after NGT ban.
