Jowai, June 13: The Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the District level Team, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai has informed to all Principal Employers (Head of Office, Factory owners, Manager of establishment, coalmine and limestone mine owner and contractors, Sordar, Khatardar ,Agent who- are employing Inter-State Migmnt workmen are required to obtained a registration Certificate & License respectively within fifteen (1 5) days from the date of the issue of this notice as prescribed under Section -4 and Section 43 of the Inter-State Migrant Workmen Regulation of Employment & mndition of service) Act, 1979 from the Registration and Licensing Officers- the Deputy Commissioner West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, Sub- Divisional Officer ( Civil) and Block Development officers through the District Labour Office, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai.
Registration of the principal Employer or for the grant of License to Contractor employing Migrant Workers shall be made in Form-I and Form- V respectively. The application should be accompanied by a Treasury Challan, Three copies of passport size photograph, Two Xeroxed copies of EPIC, Ration card/ Birth certificate or a documentary proof or certificate from the District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Superintended of Police from the State of origin.
The Deputy Commissioner has also informed that any employer of an establishment or contractor found employing Migrant Workers without complying with the above requirement will invite penal action with imprisonment or with fine or both as prescribed under section-25 of the said Act. (SP News)
