SHILLONG, July 15: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia Garo People (FKJGP) Jaintia Hills on Friday submitted a memorandum to Health Minister A. L Hek seeking his immediate intervention on the various issues which still needs to be addressed concerning Health Centers in the Jaintia Hills Region.
The Organisation, in the memorandum stated that many CHC in Jaintia Hills are functioning under one doctor, they have pointed out like the Nongtalang CHC, The FKJGP siaid that the Jaintia Hills region needs more doctor, said Mr Ricky Shylla secretary and Tuesday Lytep president FKJGP-JH after meeting the Health Minister.
The FKJGP-JH informed that another health center in West Jaintia Hills the Jarain PHC is currently left without a doctor since its appointed doctor has left the PHC for further studies.“We request the Health Minister to fill this vacancy at the earliest,” read the memorandum.
On the pending salaries of the employees who are working under the MCH&FW who have not received their salary for the past four months, the Federation said, “In connection with this we would like to suggest that the state government should set up a kind of emergency fund to pay their salary and the government can compensate itself once their salary arrives from the central government.”
Stating that the names of the 134 employee whose salaries are still pending are all included in the Employee Database of the government of Meghalaya, the FKJGP-JH further informed that employees who have been in service for more than 12 years have yet to receive their pay increments under the Assured Carried Progressive Scheme (ASPS).
In this connection, the Federation said, “Employees that have served for more than 5 years should be given permanent post with full benefits.”
“We hope the Minister takes prompt action in solving these issues that has hampered the functioning the Health Centers in Jaintia Hills,” the federation added.
However the FKJGP-JH in the memorandum lauded the prompt action of the Minister in appointing doctors at the six Health Centers in Jaintia Hills including the Bataw PHC, Iooksi PHC, Nangbah PHC, Namdong PHC, Pdengshakap PHC and Laskein CHC.
