Shillong, Aug 17: To remind and recall the 66 years (17 Aug 1948 – 17 August 2014) of the solemn national commitment made by the treaties Instrument of Accession and Annexed Agreement of 17 Aug 1948, entered into between the 25 Hima Khasi States and Shri. C Rajagopalachari, Governor General of India on 17 August 1948, and which has been reported and placed before parliament by Sardar Valabbhai Patel, Deputy Prime Minister, in the White Paper on Indian States (1948-49).
The Grand Council of Chiefs of Meghalaya comprising of Ka Dorbar Ki Khlieh Nongsynshar ka Ri Hynniewtrep, The Federation of Khasi States, Ki Sirdarship, ki Dolloi,) will hold a gathering and invites all the Chiefs, Clan Chiefs, Village Chiefs, Elders, Men, Women, young and old, leaders of NGOs, at iing Club, Pyndenumiong, Mairang, Hima Nongkhlaw Syiemship, on the 19th August 2014 at 11 am, to deliberate on the important National Commitments made 66 years ago to the 25 Khasi States.(SP News)
