Shillong, September 16: The Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) of West Jaintia Hills District today submits their memorandum to the urban affair minister Mr RV Lyngdoh requesting the minister to pay the salary of the employees of the Jowai Municipal Board.
Speaking to media person the president of the HNYF, said that they have asked the minister to pay the salary of the employees with thin thirty days, if the government does not comply with the demand of the organization they will again approached the court.
Jowai municipal board was created on the year 1995 and the staff of the municipal was taken from the JHADC, of the Jowai town Committee after signing the agreement with the state government, Said Mr Wanhun N Dkhar, president.
There are twenty-four staff in the JMB that was directly taken from the Jowai Town Committee as per the agreement sign between the JHADC and the state government when the Jowai Municipal Board was created.
It is a fact that the board should generate its own revenue to pay the salary of the staff, but after the supreme court ruling banning all tollgate in the national highway should closed down, the revenue of the JMB also come down which they are un able to pay their salary of the staff. Since this is a government board the state government should pay their salary said Mr Dkhar.
