The KSU Bangalore submit memo to CM Mr Conrad asking for Meghalaya House in the City

Shillong, May 07: The Khasi Student Union (KSU) of Bangalore Unit, on Sunday submit memorandum to the Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma, asking for the Meghalaya House in the metropolitan city.

In the memorandum the KSU said that the state of Karnataka especially the metropolitan city of Bengaluru is a favourite destination for students, entrepreneurs, tourists, job-seekers, etc. from the state of Meghalaya. In fact the number of students native to Meghalaya rapidly increases with the passage of time.

Therefore,it is understood that a large number of Meghalayans visit the state of Karnataka for their personal ventures which requires housing accommodations for their stay in Karnataka. The KSU Bangalore Unit in this regard Sir, humbly appeals your good office to kindly facilitate the establishment of an official Meghalaya House in Bengaluru at par with those in West Bengal, Delhi, Maharashtra, etc. so as to cater to the needs and requirements of the domiciles of Meghalaya.

The recent discriminations and abuses meted out on the north eastern people in mainland India including Karnataka has to a large extent threatens the security of the Meghalayans residing in Karnataka. In this context, the Union seeks your intervention so as to ensure that Meghalayans can live safely and avail swift justice and action from the Government of Meghalaya. One suggestion is that toll free helpline numbers of the Meghalaya Government for its domiciles in Karnataka should be initiated.

Aspiring students from Meghalaya who are seeking to pursue their studies in Karnataka are frequently duped by unscrupulous educational agencies operating both in Karnataka and Meghalaya. The Union therefore implores upon your good office to set up a mechanism to verify the authenticity of agencies operating in both states and to put a stop to agencies whose sole objective is to mint money out of the unsuspecting students.

At the same time the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bangalore Unit congratulate Mr Conrad on assuming the office of the Chief Minister of Meghalaya   on his maiden visit to the city of Bengaluru as the Chief Minister of our home state of Meghalaya. The memorandum was sent through Mr Sanbor Shullai MLA of the BJP from 19-Shillong South who are in the collation MDA government.
