The Maha Jagran Rath would arrive in Shillong after completing its nationwide journey

Shillong, May 02: The Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS), a premiere philanthropic and spiritual organization dedicated to the service of the nation, is going to celebrate the centenary of its foundation year and committed service to the cause of nation building and humanity. Accordingly, it plans to commemorate the event by organising a street pageant with the Maha Jagran Rath that would arrive at Shillong after completing its nationwide journey at lead on May 6th, 2017.

The Rath in lead is expected to reach Shillong at around 10.00 am or so and shall have as accompaniment about 100 small vehicles and a cavalcade of a hundred motorcycles. This multicultural street pageant will pass along the Gharikhana-Military Hospital-Civil Hospital-Laban-laban-Laststop-Kenches Trace-Rilbong-Barik-Malki-Dhanketi-Laithumkhrah Police point-Nongrim Hills-RR Colony community Hall-MES-Demseiniong-NEEPCO-Polo Hills-Matri-Mandir-police Bazar route to finally conclude its journey at Jail Road. A good number of devotees, followers and well-wishers of BSS and its sister organisations are expected to participate in the event.

This will be followed by a formal commemoration of the event to be organised at Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture Auditorium, Bivar Road, Shillong on May 7th, 2017. The inaugural session of the day long programme will commence at 11.30 am to be graced by Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Honourable Governor of Assam & Meghalaya, Shri Tataghata Roy, Honourable Governor of Tripura and other national and local dignitaries.

A cultural event, “Bhakti Sangeet Sandhya”, to mark the event is scheduled to begin from 4.00 pm onwards at the same venue where well-regarded artists from Kolkata and Shillong will stage performances.
