Shillong, June 28: The National People’s Party strongly condemns the racist remarks and ill-treatment meted out to Tailin Lyngdoh who was subjected to discrimination and humiliation at the Delhi Golf Club on Sunday afternoon for wearing a Jainsem, a traditional wear of the Khasi people.
Such remarks are not only an insult to the pluralistic ethos of the country but also a matter of great shame that despite all the efforts to bring about a change in people’s mindset in the metropolitan cities to end racism, nothing has changed.
Along with the unconditional apology from the management of the club, the NPP demands that stringent, exemplary and prompt action should be taken against those persons directly involved. Said Mr James Sangma MLA Spokesperson NPP Meghalaya State Unit
