Shillong, August 7: The people of Marwet, at Ri-Bhoi District have constituted a committee christened as the All Marwet People’s Committee (AMPC) with an aim to safeguard the people of the region from the constant encroachment from the Assam government.
The aim of the committee is to safeguard the Khasi people of residing at them Raid Marwet which had experience constant harassment from the Assam government.
The committee is being headed by Jibon Sohpdang as President, Syndon Doloi, Vice President, General Secretary Rajesh Shakwa, Asst. Secretary Binansius Shakwa, Finance Secretary Thrina Manar, Cultural Secretary Hukri Sohpdang, Asst. Cultural Secretary Nargis Shakwa, Environment Secretary Ioannis Narleng, Ken Syiem who is also the Syiem (Chief) of Raid Marwet.
