Mairang, June 30: The Pro Vice Chancellor of the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) Dr Henry Lamin today inaugurated the Kharsawphra College, in Art and Commerce streams at Mariang West Khasi Hills District.
Speking as the Chief quest , Dr Lamin stress on the need of having vocational training development, in other words skill development so that once the student complete his study could stand on his own feet to survived, that what the government of India is stressing.
Dr Lamin appreciate the visionary of late Mr Kitdor Syiem who has build the infrastructure for multicourse utility, where in the same complex could have many activities and to open a college it his dream that has come true today.
The Pro Vice Chancellor said that it is not easy to open a college the sponsoring has to face many hurdle, but he encourage that let this college that got the permission from the NEHU flourish in the years to come, from his part he has assure the sponsoring body that he will try his best to help in running the college.
The head of the Khasi Department Dr Streamlet Dkhar, inform the gathering that the NEHU has granted permission to the Khatsawphra College where the Pro Vice Chancellor has inaugurated today and the University has granted the temporary affiliation for three years, and during this three years the college has to comply with the rules and regulation laid down by the University and the University Grant Commission (UGC) government of India. When the college fulfills all the norms then permanent affiliation will be granted to the college.
The Kharsawphra College governing body today gave away the mementos to all the people who has lend their helping hand to make the Khatsawphra Sport Association fulfill their vision of having a college of it owns to serve the people of the area and the state in General in imparting education to the youth of the region.
Others who were present in the function are, the king of Hima Nongkhlaw, Mr Prestar Syiemlieh, the local MDC Equador Nongrang, and the MDC from Mawthadraishan Mr Blanding Warjri where both this MDCs has assured their help for the college. The Secretary of the College Mr Boldness L Nongum highlight the aims and objective of setting up this college, The president of the Governing body Mr Lawanpynshngian War chair the gathering and the vote of thank given by the Vice principal Miss Aida War.
