The RPF team apprehended one person for illegally carrying cannabis

Maligaon, March 29: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N. F Railway has been successfully conducting raids in trains and railway premises throughout its jurisdiction to detect and recover contraband items including smuggled goods.

In a recent incident, RPF of NFR recovered contraband items worth Rs. 1.32 lakh and apprehended one person. Moreover, alert RPF rescued a lady passenger falling from a moving train at Katihar Railway Station on March 23, 2021.

Acting on information regarding carrying of narcotics, on March 17, 2021 RPF team of RPF Post/Jalpaiguri Road under the supervision of ASC/Alipurduar Junction conducted raid in Train No. 05960 Dibrugarh – Howrah Special at Jalpaiguri Road Station.

During the raid, the RPF team apprehended one person for illegally carrying contraband goods and recovered 16 packets cannabis weighing about 33.15 Kgs valued Rs. 1.32 lakh (approx.). Later, the apprehended person along with the recovered contraband goods was handed over to OC/GRP/New Maynaguri for further course of action.

On the other hand, on March 23, 2021, while the Train No. 05981 Dibrugarh – Danapur Express Special was leaving from Katihar Railway Station, a lady passenger tried to board the running train and she slipped on the footboard of the train coach.

On seeing this, on duty RPF personnel of RPF Post, Katihar (East) comprising Constable Rahul Kumar Maurya and Constable R. K. Singh immediately swung into action and saved her life. In the meantime, ASI Jai Ram of GRP/Katihar who was also present there approached the train guard and the train was stopped.

The lady passenger did not sustain injury and she continued her journey by the same train. Thus, due to alertness of on duty RPF staff, life of a passenger could be saved.
