Shillong, October 11: The Raid Tuber Elaka Demand Committee (RTEDC) had call for the meeting at Tuberkmai shnong that falls under Khliehriat police station of the East Jaintia Hills District, under the chairmanship of Mr Helping Phawa former MDC to initiate for the demand of the new “Tuber Elaka” by bifurcating form the existing Jowai ELaka.
In the meeting which held recently, was attended by chairman, wahheh shnong, secretary shnong from the 27 villages Under Raid Tuber of Elaka Jowai. In the meeting they have adopt a resolution to convince the Dorbar of all the 27 villages to adopt the resolution for creating a new Elaka out of the ELaka Jowai.
The meeting discussed on the demand of creating of New Elaka by the name of “Elaka Tuber” by bifurcating from the existing Jowai Elaka, as the Elaka is large and difficult for its administration. New Elaka can be created as per the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District ( Established of Elaka Village and Election, Appointment, Powers, Function, and jurisdiction of Doloi/Sirdar and Waheh Shong Act) 2015.
In the meeting they have resolved that to convince the Dorbar Shnong of 27 villages Under Raid Tuber and the Dorbar should forward the said resolution to the Dorbar of the RTEDC so that the committee will submit to the JHADC for necessary action.(SP News)
