There is miss directed opposition for extending the railway way to Meghalaya: Governor

Shillong, August 17: The Meghalaya Governor Mr Tathagata Roy on the 74th Independence Day celebration at Raj Bhavan said that the Wealth of Meghalaya both in terms of natural wealth like minerals and in terms of cultural wealth, in term of natural beauty should better made known to the rest of the country.

“I have always held, particularly, because I have spent my childhood in this town my brother who is an MP he was born here in Ganesh   Das Hospital so I have close attachment to this town”.

The Governor particularly wish that more people visit Meghalaya and bring wealth here, the beauty of Meghalaya is un parallel, Governor said that He have visited at lease twelve countries in the world from Alaska to Tibet and He have been seen many places which are superior to Meghalaya in Natural beauty so He would like people from the rest of India to know about it and bring wealth to Meghalaya by way of Tourism.

Unfortunately right now because of COVID there is a problem but COVID will subside very soon and we shall see and we expect to see a spade of tourist that is and the message He would like to give to the people of Meghalaya is kindly encourage this.

Coming to the railway in the state the Governor said that “There is miss directed opposition to extending the railway way to Meghalaya does not make any sense if it is done will bring more wealth to Meghalaya. I would request to people to consider it and to get better integrated with the rest India”.

The Governor also apologise to the people of Meghalaya on the Independence Day for not given them the custom opportunity to visit the Raj Bhavan because of the COVID-19 pandemic and He sincerely sorry for it, it is a thing that He have enjoy in the past.

Becouse of the COVID epidemic they have cut short the function mercilessly due to social distancing  but even so He is grateful to the Raj Bhavan Staff let by the Secretary Mr Bakshi  my ADCs Deputy Commandant  Mr R. S Pathania ADC to the Governor and Squadron leader Mr Sumeet Pooni who has arrange the function hear and a very enjoyable function.

The Governor also had unveiling  certain painting  done by an outstanding local painter that is Bah Raphael Warjri, He said that He have seen bah Warjri painting earlier  and He  was really fascinated by them and He had express his admiration for them and He  have asked the secretary to arrange and if we could get some more painting  and he have kindly done some painting.

Earlier on Mr Warjri  has done painting three freedom fighter from Meghalaya. This time we have had painting of three dancers of Meghalaya which are extremely beautiful and would enhance the cultural wealth of this Raj Bhavan, the Governor express his grateful to bah Warjri and also express his gratefulness  to the  team led by the secretary  Mr P. Bakshi who have arrange it.

On this Independence Day the Governor once again extended His greeting to the people of Meghalaya, coincidently Bah Warjri also painted a portrait of  Sardar Patel which He have unveil on the Raj Bhavan Dorbar Hall, who is one of the person for whom He hold great respect because the united India that we live in   right now is largely his gift to the nation so once again sent my greeting to the people of Meghalaya.
