Three Indian national brought from Bangladesh by BSF

Shillong, May 06: In an initiative taken by BSF, three Indian nationals were brought back from Bangladesh. Out of these three Indians, two were received by BSF and police at ICP Dawki on Thursday who were lodged at Sunamganj jail. They could not be repatriated due to procedural delay since long.

The Nodal Officer BSF frontier Meghalaya after coming to know about these persons approached counterpart and mooted a case for their early repatriation to India. After continuous persual of their case at last both the Indian nationals were sent back through ICP Dawki with the help of Border Guard Bangladesh.

One more Indian national namely Fallon Forman age 40 son of Kuna Forman from the village Harai, under Umkiang,Dist-East Jaintia Hills(Meghalaya) who had inadvertently crossed International boundary was apprehended by BGB and was being taken for legal action.  Immediately after receiving info of his arrest, BSF authority approached BGB referring the Co-ordinated Border Management Plan (CBMP) between both the countries and requested them to release the Indian national. In response, the Border Guard Bangladesh handed over the Indian national back to BSF from Harai area.

There are many issues which can be easily resolved with an open, optimistic and positive approach. BSF confesses that approach of recognizing each other’s concerns is yielding good results. It is significant to note that the level of confidence-building measures has gone well between the BSF and the BGB both at the formal and informal levels. It has been acknowledged at the highest echelons of both the countries.
