Shillong, May 31: The KSU of Mawkynrew and Mawryngkmeng Circle submitted memorandum to the Deputy Chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong who is looking after the PWD department seeking his intervention for road construction in the the people residing in Madanlynning, Mawpyrshong, Warmatlah, Mawber, Umsaw and Thadan which falls under Mawryngkneng C & R D and other villages in this area which are not part of the Mawryngkneng C & RD Block and the villages of Mawryngkneng area.
The KSU in the memorandum said that with the eye sight it takes few minutes to reach the C & RD Block and other side of the region but due to unavailability of direct roads which link these villages, it takes more than two hour to reach the block which brought lot of inconveniences and hardship to the people in this area as they have to travel an additional distance and spend an additional time and cost for various necessity in the block.
Mawpyrshong village and other villages in this area are just opposite with Mawrynkneng C & R D block, but it is separated by a valley of Umngot river. If proper road is constructed between these two region, it will cut short the travelling distance in many kilometers and people will be save of their precious time and unnecessary expenditure.
Acording to the KSU if road is constructed, it will open a short cut for this region to the eastern border of the state and to a neighboring state, this will usher many developmental work and open economic activities for people on both side, the farmer will have a direct link and access to a market in a short distance and duration reducing the risk of their perishable good.
With the presence of good school and CHC in Mawryngkneng parent will be detach of the expensive burden in sending their children to city for schooling and people would be avail to the nearest treatment for any ailment. Presence of proper connectivity between this region will promote tourism as road will have to pass through a scenic and pristine Umngot river this will enhance job generation for the youth of the area and increase the income of the people.
Moreover most people from the two side of the area share many ancestral relationships which need frequent travelling and visit for various socio activities, availability of direct road will ease their travelling expenses in many forms.On account of all these mentioned and unmentioned necessities we solicit your help and extend our request to find way and means for a proper and direct connectivity between these two regions.
