Training on ERO Net conducted in SWGH District at Ampati

Ampati, April 12: The office of the District Election Officer, South West Garo Hills conducted a day-long training on ERO Net for the supervisors and booth-level officers (BLOs) in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office conference hall at Ampati on Wednesday. The training was organized in view of the fact that the Election Commission of India would be launching ERO Net under ECI-Net system in the state of Meghalaya and Mizoram very shortly.

Once launched, the ERO-Net would ensure error-free and healthy electoral roll through seamless processing of forms, easy handling of data bases, regular and simpler way of monitoring the electoral registration activities. The system has three components, namely ERO-Net which would link all EROs across the country, Unified National Photo Electoral Rolls Data (UNPER) and Citizen Electoral Services on NVSP.

The training was conducted through video and power-point presentations by Extra Assistant Commissioners in-charge Election, Ampati , Florina Boro and M. R. Marak and assisted by Asstt.Systems Engineer, S. Banai.  They explained about online processing of forms through ERO Net and roles of BLOs, supervisors and Data Entry Operators in online form processing besides highlighting on the functionalities provided by ERO Net like ERs management, polling stations management, electoral services and information on ER entries that electors and citizens can avail through ERO Net.

The training was followed by interactive session where queries and doubts raised by the BLOs were clarified by the officials. They also discussed issues like low enrollment of voters in the age group of 18-19 and dual voters  as well as the problems faced by the BLOs in the enrollment process.
