Shillong, August 29: The AdventuRers along with the Isha Foundation organized a Yoga Camp on 28-8-2016 at Raj Bhavan, Shillong with the hearty support, of His Excellency The Governor of Meghalaya, Shri V. Shanmuganathan. Over 75 people from all walks of life.
The Governor came on the Dot at 7:10 am and the Yoga Session started-off with the National Anthem. It was a Fun and also a dedicated and focused Yoga Session of 40 minutes, with Ooma Tariang, Osheen and Eva demonstrating and leading, and his Excellency The Governor, participated in the Yoga, with the perfection of a master.
After, the Yoga The Governor, who is a man of the people, talked with each and every one, man and woman and mingled with the children. There was a breakfast courtesy Raj Bhavan and desserts courtesy Delhi Mistan.
Some of The AdventuRers, had come on MTBs, (Mountain Bikes), to promote: The idea, that Cycling can reduce the perpetual traffic snarls, of Shillong, and it can significantly contribute, in the reduction of Global warming.
Kailash Varma the Coordinator of the AdventuRers said. “We want to give the message, that with geared cycles hilly terrain is not an obstacle to cycling”. The aim of The AdventuRers is also, to motivate people by example, to lead a healthier and more enjoyable life style, by cycling to work, and teenagers by cycling to schools. He said, in Shillong, there are no proper parking spaces for cycles and cycles get stolen and we request the Authorities to please make cycle parkings with proper cycle stands, so that cycles can be secured. All Schools, should also have Cycle Parking.
The Governor fully endorsed this view, on cycling. As a gesture of support, he symbolically and whole heartedly, joined them for a short cycling, run, in the Raj Bhavan. It was a perfect blend of Yoga for the Mind and Soul and Cycling for the Body, Environment and Health.
