East Garo Hills police arrested 4 people who tried to flood a new militant group

Williamnagar, July 28: Today morning a counter insurgency operation was conducted at Rongchekgre, Chambugong village by the Meghalaya police team based on the information about the presence of a group of 6 to 7 armed militants who have been allegedly indulging in multiple unreported incidents of dacoity, extortion and intimation.

Based on the information received the police conducted an operation, where four person namely, Mr John T Sangma known as june 18 years, Mr Simple M Sangma 22 years both are from the village chambugong, Mr Jerean Jeangku A Sangma 20 years resident of Daringra, Mr Balko M Sangma 15 years resident of Rongasigre were arrested today.

The police from their position recovered two pistols,two magazine live ammunition, one SBML loaded gun one packet of gelatine stick, one packet safety fuse and three Detonators and three mobile phone sized from their position. The police claim that this group tries to flood a new militant group.

This operation is a significant step towards further improvement in law and order situation in the Garo Hills region, particularly in East Garo Hills District. The police registered the case and the investigation is on.
