JSU wrote to the Health minister to follow up on the status of recruitment Advertisement

Shilong, July 21: The Jaintia Student’s Union (JSU) written to the Health Minister  that the Director of Health Services (MI), Government of Meghalaya, had issued a notice vide No HSM/EST/GZT/Coverage/04/2020/34492 Dated 30th March 2020, calling for applications for appointment to posts of “MBBS Doctors/ AYUSH Doctors/Laboratory Technicians/O.T Technicians to combat the Covid-19 Pandemic”.

Whilst viewing this as a welcome move by the government in ramping up its efforts against covid-19 and upon seeing a sharp dramatic increase in the number of cases over the last few days, as a student union taking keen interest in the welfare of the state, the JSU demands to know the status of the appointment on this notice till date, as already 3 months have passed since the notice was issued.

With the surging number of cases in the state, the Union feels strongly to seek an explanation from the Government of Meghalaya, particularly the Health Department, as to the reason for the delay in such appointment, which is the need of the hour.

Echoing the concerns of people who applied for the posts, we feel that the Government needs to exercise maximum utilisation of human resources when available in such a time as this.

The JSU President Shillong Circle ,Treiborlang R Suchen, said that the Govenrment must recruit more health workers since the rise in numbers of people affected from COVID 19 in our state has escalated day by day and one must ask how many people are there to treat the patients. Any eye-wash strategy needs to stop and we call for facta non verba.
