Mr Gadkari Union Minister transport assure Meghalaya CM necessary support on Road project

Shillong, May 01: The Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad K. Sangma today met Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari along with Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD Prestone Tynsong to discuss on the implementation of ongoing projects in Meghalaya.

In the meeting, NHIDCL and NHAI officials were also present, wherein it was resolved that road connectivity in Meghalaya would be enhanced at the earliest and Government of India would extend full cooperation and support.

“The Central Government is committed to provide all necessary support to the State to ensure that all pending road projects are given due attention”, informed the Chief Minister.

During the meeting at New Delhi, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister discussed on eight different projects which were important to enhance connectivity in Meghalaya including Tura – Dalu road, Baghmara – Moheskola – Ranikor road, NH-62 and Shillong – Dawki road.

“We discussed on taking up critical roads under National Highway and converting of timber bridges to RCC. The meeting was very productive and the Union Minister has assured full cooperation and support to improve road connectivity in Meghalaya”, Chief Minister added.

He also informed that a meeting with the official of Ministry of Transport and the State Government officials would be held at Shillong on May 25 and 26 to take the projects forward.
