Maligaon, April 11: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of N.F. Railway successfully rescued as many as 708 minor boys and girls from railway premises like stations/trains during the period from January to December, 2018 before the children could be lured by anti-social elements. 20 human traffickers were also arrested red handed by RPF who were transporting minor boys and girls in trains during this period.
Other 75 persons were also rescued during this period bringing the total number of such rescued person to 783. Of these 428 are male below 18 years, 280 are female below 18 years, 30 are male above 18 years and 45 are female above 18 years. While 410 of the rescued were handed over to different NGOs, 233 minors were handed over to their respective parents. Rests were handed over to concerned GRP and Police for necessary action as per law.
In the current year upto March as many as 165 person was rescued by RPF from railway premises which include 148 minors. During this period 4 human traffickers were also arrested by RPF.
During the period from 01.04.2019 to 07.04.2019, RPF rescued as many as 14 minor boys and girls from different stations/trains and handed over them to their respective parents and NGOs.
It may be mentioned here that RPF has been successfully rescuing run away child as well as child from the clutch of traffickers regularly along with arrest of traffickers. Rescued children are normally handed over to their parents or various NGOs like Child Line. Various squads of RPF are regularly conducting checks at railway premises to prevent such cases.
It is known that gang of traffickers are very much active in this region to take children and women away to other parts of the country. The arrested traffickers are regularly being handed over to respective GRP and Police for appropriate action under law.
